GSC Weekly Coffee Social

On Thursday the Graduate Student Lounge and Olin Cafe becomes a coffee bar. Real espresso and pour-over equipment, fresh-roasted and ethically sourced beans, brewed to order in front of you by Reid Xu MSBA '26, founder of Dream of Coffee, the largest university coffee community in the country with 5,000+ members at the University of Maryland.

On the menu this week

- Aerocano, an iced espresso and cold brew hybrid
- Pour-over, brewed on a Chemex with a Brewista kettle
- Café latte, pulled on a Ninja Luxe Café Mini, latte art included

Drinks are served in small tasting pours, so you can try more than one. Subject to availability.

Why coffee?

Most coffee on campus is roasted dark enough to hide its defects and bitter enough to need sugar. Taste a well-sourced bean brewed properly and the difference is immediate. That first sip is the hook, the conversation is the point. Come for the coffee, stay for the people you would never have met in your own program.

How does it work?

Drop in any time between 1 and 4 PM. Grab a cup, pull up a chair, and meet someone new. Open to all graduate students across every program.
