Business brokers facilitate the transfer of privately held businesses between buyers and sellers.
Unlike investment bankers who focus on public markets or large-cap private equity, brokers typically work with private main street to lower middle market companies with revenues from roughly $500K to $10M.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
• Confidentially marketing businesses for sale and sourcing qualified buyers
• Conducting or coordinating business valuations and financial due diligence
• Structuring deal terms, financing options, and purchase agreements
• Managing multi-party negotiations through closing
• Advising owners on value-building strategies prior to a sale
• Working with attorneys, CPAs, lenders, and landlords to remove transaction obstacles
